Job summary

The Mason Group - Strategic Search Partners is assisting a leading manufacturing organization in finding an experienced Controller for a 6-month contract in downtown Toronto, with a Hybrid work arrangement. Travel to Windsor and Scarborough is required.

The role oversees financial planning, monthly close, reporting, and provides financial insights to production, purchasing and supply chain. It also drives cost control, inventory, and KPI monitoring, while ensuring strong internal controls.

Job description

Our client, a leading organization in the manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong possibility of extension.

In this role, you will provide financial leadership across manufacturing operations, overseeing financial planning, reporting, and the monthly close process. You will partner closely with operational stakeholders to support production planning, plant operations (including outsourced manufacturing), purchasing, and supply chain activities. The role works in a Hybrid work arrangement based out of the company's downtown Toronto office.

Regular travel required to manufacturing facilities in Windsor and Scarborough.

Duties:

• Lead monthly financial close and reporting processes related to manufacturing operations
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Partner with production, purchasing, and supply chain teams to provide financial insights and decision support
• Monitor plant performance, cost management, inventory, and operational KPIs
• Support financial analysis related to outsourced manufacturing and plant operations
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls

Qualifications:

• Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
• Minimum 6+ years of accounting experience
• Must have strong manufacturing finance experience
• Proven leadership and financial performance building capabilities in driving improvement and change in a production environment
• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting and inventory costing
• Excellent time management skills (ability to multitask and manage deadlines and multiple customer demands)
• Team player, collaborative, thrives in a fast paced and dynamic business environment
• Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with senior management, strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with team members
