Job summary

Morgan McKinley in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Accountant to join a global manufacturing organization in a hands-on, project-based role with a defined progression into an Assistant Controller position.

You’ll own core accounting and job costing, manage WIP and month-end, and work with stakeholders across the business to drive financial insights and performance.

Qualifications

• CPA designation or in mid/final CPA
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong cost accounting experience
• Experience in manufacturing/construction/customer goods in a project-based environment
• Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets
• Strong analytical skills and ability to understand project-level financial performance
• Proactive hands-on approach with desire to grow into a senior accounting position

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end close process with journal entries, GL activities, accruals and account analysis
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Manage project and job costing in the ERP system focusing on WIP, costs, allocations and profitability
• Monitor project financial performance: costs, revenue, budgets, margins and variances
• Prepare weekly reporting packages for revenue, cash flow, and bank reconciliations
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights on project performance
• Support year-end audits and respond to information requests from Head Office

Mississauga | Full-Time Onsite | $95-115K + Benefits

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join a global manufacturing organization and take the next step in their career, with a defined progression into an Assistant Controller position.

Based in Mississauga, this is a hands-on role within a project-based manufacturing environment, where you\'ll take ownership of core accounting and job costing activities while gaining broad exposure across the business. You\'ll play an important role in managing project financials, WIP, job costing, profitability, and month-end, working closely with key stakeholders across the organization.

What You\'ll Be Doing

• Leading the month-end close process, including journal entries, general ledger activities, accruals, and account analysis


• Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances, and resolving discrepancies


• Managing project and job costing within the ERP system, with a strong focus on WIP (Work in Progress), project costs, cost allocations, and job profitability


• Monitoring project financial performance, including costs, revenue, budgets, margins, and variances


• Preparing weekly reporting packages covering revenue, sales, order book, cash flow, and bank reconciliations


• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and other business analysis initiatives


• Working closely with internal stakeholders to understand project performance and provide financial insight


• Supporting year-end audits and responding to reporting and information requests from Head Office

What We\'re Looking For

• CPA designated or in mid to final stages of CPA


• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience


• Strong experience with cost accounting, ideally within a job costing or project costing environment


• Experience in manufacturing, construction, consumer goods, or a similar project-based environment


• Strong Excel skills with the ability to work with and analyze large datasets


• Strong analytical skills and the ability to understand the financial performance of individual projects


• A proactive, hands-on approach with the desire to grow into a more senior accounting position
