We are seeking a highly skilled Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the financial health of our organization. This role involves overseeing bookkeeping activities, preparing accurate and timely financial reports, managing budgets, and handling invoicing and accounts payables. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to streamline financial processes and drive organizational success.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present accurate monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.

Budgeting and Financial Management

  • Develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets in collaboration with departmental heads.
  • Perform variance analysis to compare budgeted versus actual performance, identifying and addressing key discrepancies.
  • Drive cost management initiatives to optimize financial performance.

Invoicing and Accounts Payable Management

  • Oversee customer invoicing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Approve accounts payable transactions while maintaining internal controls.
  • Present and execute supplier cost optimization strategies.

Managing Bookkeeping and Accounting Team

  • Supervise and support bookkeepers to ensure accurate transaction recording and account reconciliation.
  • Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations prepared by the bookkeeping team.
  • Work with accountants to prepare and manage government filings in USA and Canada.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or CPA/CFA designation is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
  • Technology business (SaaS, HaaS)

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling and analysis.

Leadership And Interpersonal Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, banks, and external partners.
