Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is assisting a real estate client in Guelph, ON, to hire a Controller who will lead financial reporting, oversee tax filings, and drive clarity for executives and investors.

You will manage a small accounting team, model cash flow across multiple projects, collaborate with lenders and auditors, and translate complex construction data into actionable financial insights while working on-site.

Qualifications

• CPA designation strongly preferred; construction and development experience considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Senior controller-level accounting experience in construction and real estate development.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all financial reporting, day-to-day accounting, tax filings, and cost calculations.
• Present financial results, development updates, and return calculations to executive leadership, trustees, and investors.
• Manage, mentor, and support a 2-person team.
• Lead cash flow forecasting and planning across multiple independent projects, collaborating with lenders and quantity surveyors.
• Hold external auditors, accountants, and partners accountable to high standards and timelines.
• Translate complex technical construction details into clear, actionable financial insights for decision-makers.

Our real estate client in Guelph is on the lookout for an autonomous and detail-oriented Controller who is ready to lead financial reporting and drive clarity for key stakeholders.

In this role, you will oversee all financial reporting, lead cash flow planning across multiple projects, and present insights directly to the executive teams and investors. You will also manage and mentor a dedicated accounting team while ensuring seamless tax, return, and project financing processes.

Work Arrangement

In-office in Guelph, ON.

What our client has to offer

• Base salary between $125,000 and $145,000, plus an annual bonus of up to 15%

• Experience with Yardi is considered a strong asset
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with an autonomous, detail-oriented leadership style
• Ability to work on-site in Guelph
