Job summary

TSI Group is seeking a Controller to lead the financial and accounting operations for the Brockville manufacturing facility. You will supervise the accounting team, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and provide strategic financial guidance to leadership.

You will oversee month-end close, payroll for hourly staff, cost analysis, and maintenance of the chart of accounts in line with ASPE. Strong manufacturing accounting knowledge and ERP experience are important for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; CPA an asset.
  • 5+ years in accounting/finance with progressive responsibilities.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee payroll processing for hourly employees and ensure compliance.
  • Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations for cost control and efficiency.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and ensure accurate P&L/Balance Sheet recording per ASPE.
  • Maintain internal controls and best practices for accounting and finance functions.
  • Oversee AP/AR, vendor payments, cash applications, and credit/collections.

Job description

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations of the manufacturing facility including producing financial reports, maintaining accounting records and controls, managing the accounting team, and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes while ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting
  • Oversee payroll processing for hourly employees and ensure both accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Analyze financial data, summarize, and provide strategic recommendations for optimizing resource utilization, operational efficiency, and process improvements
  • Maintain responsibility for the chart of accounts and ensure accurate recording of financial data in the P&L and Balance Sheet in accordance with ASPE guidelines
  • Maintain a system of controls and best practices as they relate to the accounting and finance function
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, the accounts payable process, vendor payment controls, accounts receivable management, cash application, and credit & collections with an emphasis on aged invoices and credit limit monitoring
  • Review and analyze manufacturing costs, overhead, and G&A expenses and offer recommendations for cost management strategies and overhead absorption rates
  • Ensure the accurate and timely recording and analysis of revenues and expenses in-line with financial reporting standards
  • Triage and/or manage various provincial and federal government reporting requirements and input tax filings
  • Oversee all physical inventory counts and reconciliations
Experience, Qualifications & Attributes
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration; CPA an asset
  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience with a manufacturing-related ERP is an asset
  • Experience owning or building a budget for a manufacturing plant or business unit
  • Experience managing a small finance team
  • Multi-site finance exposure an asset
  • Strong manufacturing accounting knowledge and expertise in the Microsoft Suite (Office 365, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience with Epicor Kinetic an asset
  • Ability to work independently and be a subject matter expect in all aspects of accounting and finance
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize jobs, and be highly organized
  • Strong comprehension and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills coupled with the demonstrated ability to resolve challenges with other Finance department members and non-Finance leaders
