Job summary

Brock Solutions in Vancouver, BC is seeking a Control Systems Support Engineer to design, program, integrate, troubleshoot, and support new and existing automated controls systems.

Work with a team of engineers in a collaborative, employee-owned environment that rewards problem solving and innovation. The role may require travel up to 25% and offers a flexible mix of at-home, in-office and on-site work to help you balance life and results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems design, Automation, or related field.
  • Ability to learn new technologies independently.
  • Aptitude for programming (C, C#, VBA, SQL, Ladder Logic, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Knowledge of HMIs (FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware).
  • Knowledge of industrial networks (ControlNet, Profibus, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of industrial environments, engineering, and production processes.
  • Ability to complete security clearance requirements that may be needed.
  • Familiarity with IT/Networking and data applications.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, and HMI systems.
  • Resolve mission-critical issues/outages for high-profile customers.
  • Interact with customers and understand client processes.
  • Program/modify PLC systems.
  • Program/modify HMIs.
  • Interface with real-time database applications to manage production information.
  • Diagnose root causes and identify areas to improve system performance.
  • Site commissioning and installation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Service/Support Manager.
  • On-call service/support for existing installations.
  • Travel up to 25% through the year.

Working with other highly motivated Engineers, you will be involved with designing, programming, integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting new and existing automated controls systems.

Responsibilities may include


  • Troubleshooting a variety of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems

  • Resolving mission critical issues/outages for high profile customers

  • Interact with customers and understand the client processes

  • Programming/modification of PLC systems

  • Programming/modification of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)

  • Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical production information

  • Diagnose and analyze systems to determine the root cause of current issues, to identify potential future issues, and to identify areas to improve or maintain system performance

  • Site commissioning and installation

  • Performing other duties as assigned by Service/Support Manager

  • On-call service/support for existing installations

  • Travel up to 25% through the year
