Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES:
As a member of a motivated, multi-disciplinary team, you will design and develop automation solutions. Your duties include contributing to machine concepts, designing control software, integrating software with electrical and mechanical systems, developing processes, and installing machines at customer sites worldwide. Programming involves leading-edge technologies such as PLCs, PCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, lasers, and other controllers.
The primary focus of this role is developing and commissioning synchronous cammed automation equipment based on a B&R control platform with some Allen Bradley components.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop software (PLC and/or PC-based) tailored to customer and project requirements, following ATS standards.
- Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during system integration, and at customer sites.
- Travel as needed to customer and supplier sites for installation, commissioning, and training.
- Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, sensors, motion controllers, vision systems, and lasers.
- Collaborate with control systems and other departments to improve control technology integration, focusing on safety, functionality, and cost reduction.
- Ensure adherence to budgets and schedules in collaboration with project teams.
- Work with customers, project managers, and other stakeholders to troubleshoot and deliver complete automation solutions.
- Thoroughly test machine functionality and verify software completeness.
- Provide detailed documentation for each project.
- Advise customers on technical issues and provide training on machine operation and programming principles.
Additional InformationEducation:
- A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
Experience:
- Strong programming, mechanical, and electrical problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience with robotics, control systems, and machine operation is desirable.
- Self-motivated team player capable of working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- At least two years of experience programming in B&R Automation Studio is strongly recommended. Experience with B&R Motion Simulation is a plus.
