Job summary

Thales Group is seeking a Contracts Manager in a hybrid role across Ottawa, Halifax, or Victoria. You will partner with program and functional teams to guide contracts through bid, negotiation, execution, and closeout for complex defence and government programs.

Qualifications

• University degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in strategic business support functions (Procurement, Legal, Finance, Contracts Management).
• At least 1 year of contract experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and administering contracts.
• Fluency in English.
• Experience with defense/government contracts preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of defence and government contracts through the full lifecycle.
• Draft, review, negotiate, implement, and administer contracts, amendments, arisings, and other documents.
• Support bids and proposal packages from bid/no-bid through award and ongoing management.
• Prepare risk analyses and briefing materials for governance and gate approvals.
• Interpret contract requirements and advise project teams on rights, obligations, risks, and compliance.
• Liaise with Procurement, Finance and other departments to flow down prime terms to suppliers.
• Provide guidance on complex subcontract negotiations and manage escalations.
• Monitor program status via meetings, reviews, and governance forums and report to senior management.

The role is responsible for protecting the organization's commercial interests by ensuring contractual compliance, identifying and mitigating risks, maximizing opportunities, and supporting the negotiation of favourable contractual outcomes.Throughout project execution, the Contracts Manager collaborates with project leadership and stakeholders to manage contractual obligations, advise on commercial and contractual matters, monitor risks and opportunities, support change management initiatives, and facilitate the timely resolution of issues.
