Job summary

NorthRiver Midstream Inc. is seeking a capable Pipeline Operations professional to manage and monitor pipeline facilities, perform pigging operations, and support integrity and ROW activities.

The role requires strong safety focus, good communication, and the ability to work in remote locations across Northeast British Columbia. You will follow operating manuals, interpret P&IDs, and maintain SCADA field instrumentation while coordinating with Control Room, Engineering, and Safety teams.

Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or equivalent oil & gas field experience.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in pipeline operations, liquids pipelines, pigging, or integrity-related field work.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel and work in remote locations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor pipeline facilities in accordance with operating manuals.
  • Perform pigging operations including loading, launching, tracking and receiving pigs.
  • Support pipeline integrity activities including coating inspections, corrosion monitoring, and ILI tool verification.
  • Follow safety, environmental and regulatory requirements including lockout/tagout and emergency response drills.
  • Complete logs and reports daily, pigging deviation records, and inspection reports meeting CER requirements.

What you’ll do:

Here is a sample of what your workday may look like:

Pipeline Operations & Monitoring
  • Operate and monitor pipeline facilities in accordance with approved Operating & Maintenance Manuals.
  • Execute pipeline start-ups, shutdowns, normal operations, upset conditions, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct field inspections of:
  • Pump stations
  • Valves and block valves
  • SCADA field equipment and instrumentation
  • Metering and pressure control systems
  • Identify, respond to, and report Abnormal Operating Conditions (AOCs) such as pressure deviations, leaks, or equipment failures.
  • Provide operational support and field verification to the Control Room.
Pigging Operations (Cleaning, Batching & ILI)
  • Prepare pig launchers and receivers following lockout/tagout, depressurization, and verification procedures.
  • Load, launch, track, and receive:
  • Cleaning pigs
  • Batching pigs
  • Gauging pigs
  • Monitor pressures, pump rates, and pig signals to ensure controlled pig movement.
  • Troubleshoot stalled or stuck pigs and assist with recovery operations.
  • Inspect pig traps, closures, seals, kicker lines, drains, vents, and instrumentation post-run.
  • Maintain pig inventories and ensure proper storage and handling.
Pipeline Integrity & ROW Support
  • Perform routine ROW patrols (ground, vehicle, or aerial) to identify:
  • Third-party encroachments
  • Erosion or geotechnical hazards
  • Evidence of leaks or releases
  • Assist with integrity activities including:
  • Coating inspections and repairs
  • Corrosion monitoring
  • Integrity digs and excavations
  • ILI tool correlation and feature verification
  • Implement mitigation actions assigned by Integrity or Engineering teams.
Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
  • Follow all company safety programs including:
  • Hazard identification
  • Lockout/tagout
  • Confined space
  • Pressure safety
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, drills, and incident investigations.
  • Act as safety watch during pigging and high-risk operations.
  • Maintain exclusion zones and manage hazards related to high pressure, NGL vapours, and H₂S (where applicable).
  • Maintain readiness to respond to alarms, releases, or public complaints.
  • Participate in emergency response exercises as required under the Emergency Management Program.
  • Assist with site isolation, containment, notifications, and response coordination.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Complete accurate logs and reports including:
  • Daily operational logs
  • Pigging reports and deviation records
  • Inspection and patrol reports
  • AOC and incident reports
  • Ensure documentation meets CER regulatory requirements and company Management System standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical diploma or equivalent oil & gas field experience.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in pipeline operations, liquids pipelines, pigging, or integrity-related field work.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract; ability to travel and work in remote locations.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call, standby, shift work, and overtime as required.
Preferred
  • Previous experience with NGL or liquids pipelines.
  • Pigging and ILI tool handling experience.
  • Ground disturbance and ROW monitoring experience.
  • Familiarity with CER OPR and Management System requirements.
Additional Information
  • This position includes on-call and emergency response responsibilities.
  • Extensive travel and out-of-town work may be required.
  • Successful candidates must comply with company Drug & Alcohol Policy and be able to meet respiratory protection / clean-shaven requirements where applicable.
Salary Range:

$155,000 - $185,000. Final compensation for this position will be determined based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate and will be aligned to internal equity.
