Purpose of Position

The candidate will be responsible for the direct implementation of Covenant House’s philosophy, mission statement, and policies related to residential care.

Responsibilities

1. Ongoing assessment of youths' needs; providing individual counseling.
2. Crisis intervention during physical confrontations, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have experienced trauma.
3. Acting as an advocate for youth within the agency and with external organizations.
4. Maintaining client files, including intakes, discharges, case summaries, and necessary documentation related to youths' plans.
5. Providing direct support to Case Managers.

Qualifications

• College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting.
• Knowledge of adolescent development and issues faced by street youth.
• First Aid, CPR, and basic computer skills are assets.
• Ability to assess and intervene with youth in crisis.
• Trauma-informed approach to care.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.
