Job summary

Luminultra is hiring a contract Laboratory Technician (Microbiology) to join our Food & Beverage lab team in Fredericton, NB. The role focuses on receiving and processing samples, performing culture-based and rapid microbiology analyses, and ensuring high-quality results.

The ideal candidate has a science degree or diploma and lab experience, with a patient, team-oriented approach. Weekend/holiday flexibility is required, and the position is on-site with a base hourly rate of CAD 20.00–23.50.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Technical Diploma in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• >1 year experience working in a laboratory (classroom lab experience accepted).
• Ability to pipette accurately, carefully follow SOPs, aseptic technique and work at the bench for extended periods.
• Highly detail oriented and reliable team player.
• Naturally curious and communicative.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as necessary.
• Experience in ISO 17025:2017 or similar environment is an asset.
• Experience working in a microbiological or sterile laboratory environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process samples daily for microbiology analysis.
• Inspect samples for microorganisms using culture-based and rapid procedures.
• Follow SOPs and maintain aseptic technique at the bench.
• Prepare culture media and perform sample transfers as required.
• Record daily incubator temperatures and QA/QC data.
• Maintain QA/QC records and equipment calibration.
• Create accurate client reports based on testing results.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
