Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Markham, ON is seeking a Microbiology Technician for a full-time, permanent role. You will read plates, record results, and prepare samples in a laboratory setting, following strict safety and quality procedures.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree or equivalent experience, with 1+ year in microbiology and knowledge of LIMS. The role includes routine testing, data entry, and adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (or 1+ year relevant experience); bachelor’s degree also acceptable.
  • Analytical skills are essential to complete analysis procedures and determine microorganism concentration.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is helpful for data entry and tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Read plates and tubes to determine number of organisms.
  • Record findings on worksheets for verification.
  • Write identifications on plates to track client and sample numbers.
  • Prepare samples by recording, weighing, and blending as required.
  • Set up equipment and materials for analysis.
  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
