Job summary

Septodont in Cambridge, Canada, seeks a Microbiologist I for a 12‑month contract. The role covers environmental and personnel monitoring in the Aseptic Processing Area, sterility and bioburden testing, and assisting with SOPs and audits.

Must have a Microbiology degree and 2 years’ related experience, with gowning certifications due monthly and yearly. The position runs weekend nights (Sun-Wed) with 40 hours per week, paying CAD 30.45 per hour, and requires strict adherence to GMP and safety

Qualifications

• Diploma or University degree in Microbiology.
• 2 years of related experience in Microbiology or related field.
• Must pass initial gowning certification; monthly and yearly gowning certification required.

Responsibilities

• Environmental monitoring of air and surfaces in Aseptic Processing Area.
• Personnel monitoring for entry into Aseptic Processing Area.
• Sterility testing of finished goods.
• Bioburden testing of WFI and water systems, and raw materials.
• Pyrogen testing of finished goods by LAL method.
• Bacterial identification/speciation of isolates from monitoring results.
• Prepare and purchase microbiological media (purchased and in-house).
• Sterilize and sanitize equipment and facilities used in microbial testing.
• Read plates and report results of microbial tests.
• Support investigations (DIR, OOS, Qnotes) and audits.
• Develop/update SOPs and trending reports; act as gowning SME.
