Job summary

A leading global food service company is seeking an Industrial Engineer in Calgary, Canada. Reporting to the Managing Director North, you will focus on executing Lean Manufacturing initiatives across multiple locations. Responsibilities include enhancing process optimization and data analysis, along with training staff in Lean practices. The ideal candidate has a degree in Industrial Engineering and at least four years of relevant experience. Competitive salary range is between $95,000.00 and $105,000.00 per year.

Base pay range

Job Summary

Reporting into the Managing Director North this role will have a regional scope (YYC, YEG, YWG, YQR, YOW, YHZ).

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute relevant improvement initiatives leveraging on Lean Six Sigma knowledge/expertise aiming at process optimization, compliance, standardization and SQDC (safety, quality, delivery, cost) KPIs improvements.
  • Contribute in the definition and execution of the overall CI roadmap.
  • Collect and analyze data and extract meaningful information to understand process KPIs and Unit performance.
  • Perform diagnostics on major cost drivers, including material, labor, and OOC (other operating costs).
  • Perform value stream analysis for the unit.
  • Lead tangible and measurable improvements of core processes -both operational and transactional- through people engagement at all levels in the unit.
  • Implement and sustain gateOPEX standardization program focusing on gateOPEX Elements and Core Processes.
  • Work hands‑on with Operations, facilitate unit‑wide continuous improvement initiatives, lead relevant projects and kaizen events.
  • Train Lean manufacturing and promote continuous improvement culture in the unit through in class and/or on the job training for peers and frontline staff.
  • Identify, develop, promote and share best practices.
  • Train and coordinate junior resources.
Qualifications
  • Education: University degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics and Operation Management or related technical discipline required.
  • Work Experience: Minimum four (4) years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing or related experience as an Industrial Engineer.
  • Experience in analyzing operations and its cost drivers, material and information flows, productivity, material consumption, and operation expenses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of Quality, Project Management, Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts and theories.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing Lean in manufacturing and transactional areas.
  • Language / Communication Skills: strong communication skills in English both verbal and written.

Work Environment / Requirements of the Job: Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts. Must be to lift, pull, push, and move products, equipment, and supplies daily. There may be physical discomfort due to temperature in production area, coolers, and freezers.

Other verbiage: Normal standing, walking, reaching, lifting, kneeling, climbing of stairs and ladders, driving, and flying as a passenger on commercial airlines.
