A manufacturing company is looking to hire continuous improvement Lead- Health and Safety
Responsibilities -
- Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects across various departments by conducting thorough assessments of existing processes and their effectiveness, workflows and systems to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and areas for improvement
- Support organization’s leadership team to help develop and execute a clear annual plan of CI improvements
- Drive the implementation of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc) to identify and deliver process improvements across departments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in all departments through active listening and observation to prioritize and align improvement efforts with business objectives in a timely manner
- Utilizes problem solving and creativity to lead efforts to raise the skills and knowledge of employees by leading engaging training sessions with a focus on teamwork to build a culture of continuous improvement
- Keep organized files and minutes of meetings for all projects in process or under review
- Assist in the development of process flow diagrams and process guides to communicate possible solutions, decisions and action plans
- Assist in identifying potential hazards, document and understand company needs and proactively address them
- Conduct research and gather data for Management to make informed decisions
- Document, monitor and track results for improvement projects
- Create progress reports and presentations for Management
- Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in process improvement and innovation
- Promote the adoption of new technologies and practices that support continual improvement
Health & Safety -
- Ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations, other relevant safety certifications, environmental laws and industry standards
- Develop, implement, maintain and regularly review health and safety policies and procedures
- Identify workplace hazards and potential risks related to machinery, chemical handling, ergonomics and other areas of relevance
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to mitigate workplace hazards
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in project management or business in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience leading CI projects applying the theory of constraints methodology and other lean methodologies
- Relevant certifications and experience (e.g. Six Sigma, 5S, KAIZEN, SMED, TQM)
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Manufacturing)
- Knowledge of the ISO 9001 Quality System Program and related implementation of procedures
- OSHA certification (JHSC certificate) or equivalent health and safety qualifications is an asset
- Proven experience in a health & safety role within manufacturing or a similar industry
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management and accident investigation
- Advanced Skills with Microsoft office
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering effective collaboration and communication with others
