Job summary

ServiceMaster North Vancouver Island is hiring Contents and Cleaning Technicians to help homeowners and businesses recover after water, fire, and other property damage. You will pack, clean, restore contents, and perform professional cleaning with post-construction services as part of expanding operations.

We offer versatile, hands-on roles with ongoing training, scheduling flexibility including evenings and weekends, and opportunities for career advancement within a trusted restoration leader

Qualifications

• Compassionate and respectful when working with clients experiencing property damage.
• Can work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Have strong communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and basic computer applications.
• Holds a valid Class 5 driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record.
• Can successfully complete a criminal record check upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Carefully pack, transport, clean, restore, and return belongings affected by water, fire, smoke, and other property damage.
• Use specialized equipment and techniques to clean, sanitize, and restore household and commercial contents.
• Photograph, document, and inventory belongings using restoration software.
• Organize and maintain contents storage areas, equipment, and facilities.
• Perform residential and commercial cleaning, including regularly scheduled janitorial services.
• Follow cleaning schedules, safety procedures, and client-specific requirements.
• Assist restoration teams with projects, equipment, and general operational activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Provide professional, compassionate customer service.
• Support flexible assignments, including occasional evening, weekend, and emergency work.

Position Overview

As a Contents and Cleaning Technician, you'll help homeowners and businesses recover after water, fire, smoke, and other property damage. From carefully packing treasured possessions to cleaning and restoring them using specialized techniques, your work will make a meaningful difference during some of the most challenging moments in our clients' lives.

You'll also have opportunities to perform professional cleaning, post-construction cleaning, and commercial janitorial services as part of our expanding operations.

This is a versatile, hands-on position offering a variety of assignments, ongoing training, and opportunities for career advancement.

We have both full-time and part-time positions available. Previous restoration experience is an asset, but we're happy to train the right people!

Responsibilities

Contents Restoration

• Carefully pack, transport, clean, restore, and return belongings affected by water, fire, smoke, and other property damage.
• Use specialized equipment and techniques to clean, sanitize, and restore household and commercial contents.
• Photograph, document, and inventory belongings using restoration software.
• Organize and maintain contents storage areas, equipment, and facilities.

Professional Cleaning and Janitorial Services

• Perform residential and commercial cleaning, including regularly scheduled janitorial services.
• Clean and sanitize offices, washrooms, kitchens, floors, and common areas.
• Complete post-construction, post-restoration, and specialty cleaning assignments.
• Follow cleaning schedules, safety procedures, and client-specific requirements.

General Restoration Support

• Assist restoration teams with projects, equipment, and general operational activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Provide professional, compassionate customer service.
• Support flexible assignments, including occasional evening, weekend, and emergency work.

Flexible Employment Opportunities

Depending on operational requirements, assignments may include:

• Daytime contents restoration and cleaning activities.
• Residential and commercial restoration projects.
• Scheduled commercial janitorial assignments, including evenings and weekends.

Schedules will be coordinated based on business requirements, employee availability, and the needs of individual projects and cleaning contracts.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in contents restoration, professional cleaning, housekeeping, moving, warehousing, or customer service is not required but is considered an asset.
• Compassionate and respectful when working with clients experiencing property damage.
• Can work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Have strong communication and customer service skills.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and basic computer applications.
• Able to safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Hold a valid Class 5 driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record.
• Can successfully complete a criminal record check upon hire.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
