Job summary

JVT Media is seeking a part-time, contract Content Creator to produce high-impact short-form videos for brands in the Guelph area. You will film on-site, edit videos, and craft captions that match each brand’s voice, while optimizing posts for engagement across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.

You’ll stay ahead of trends, continuously learn new editing tools (including AI features), and collaborate with a small team to deliver consistent, credible content that drives results.

Qualifications

• Experience creating content for people, brands, or businesses.
• Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and short-form video.
• Comfortable creating content with an understanding of aesthetic angles and visual storytelling.
• You understand trends and current pop culture and can select suitable audios weekly.
• You are obsessed with performance, tracking engagement and audience resonance.

Responsibilities

• Create short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) from start to finish: strategy, scripting, filming, editing, captions, and formatting.
• Capture video and photo content on-site for clients and projects.
• Write captions that sound like the brand, not a template.
• Optimize every post: tagging, covers, and formatting.
• Craft carousels from photo and video content.
• Create story content and light graphics.
• Regularly propose and test new formats, hooks, and content ideas.
• Repurpose content efficiently across platforms.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for someone who loves creating scroll-stopping videos, and who's always looking for ways to make the next one even better. This role is all about hands-on content creation, primarily short form video: filming, editing, and crafting content that reflects each brand's voice and drives real credibility, connection, and results.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Content Creation

• Create short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) from start to finish: strategy, scripting, filming, editing, captions, and formatting
• Capture video and photo content on-site for clients and projects
• Write captions that sound like the brand, not a template
• Optimize every post: tagging, covers, and formatting
• Craft carousels from photo and video content
• Create story content and light graphics

Trend & Format Tracking + Implementation

• Understand what makes content perform, not only what looks good
• Stay plugged into trends, features, and platform updates before they're old news
• Continuously learn new editing tools, techniques, and features on your own, including AI capabilities
• Regularly propose and test new formats, hooks, and content ideas
• Repurpose content efficiently across platforms

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Experience creating content for people, brands, or businesses
• Strong understanding of Instagram, TikTok, and short-form video
• Comfortable creating content, with an understanding of aesthetic angles and visual storytelling
• You understand trends and current pop culture. Ex. can select which audios would be ‘in’ to use in content week-to-week
• You are obsessed with performance, tracking engagement and audience resonance, and using it to make each video better than the last
• You bring a positive attitude to the work you do everyday, and are a joy to work with
• You keep project trackers up to date so timelines and deliverables status are available to the entire team at any moment
• You take pride in every piece of content you create
• You are able to manage multiple deadlines and stay organized
• You are creative, reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented
• You are a self-starter with a willingness to learn and adapt quickly
• You take feedback well, use it to make your work better, and communicate openly along the way
• You are always looking for ways to work more efficiently and raise the quality of what you produce with new features, functions, and AI tools

WORK STRUCTURE

• Part-time, contract role
• Filming and on-site content creation take place primarily in Guelph and surrounding areas, in person
• Editing and other post-production work can be completed remotely, on your own schedule (in accordance with deadlines are met)
• In-person meetings and team working sessions take place in Guelph
