Job summary

CIBC in Toronto is seeking a Procurement Consultant to support end-to-end procurement across indirect spend, shaping sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and advising internal clients. You will develop, negotiate, and implement contracts while mitigating risk and ensuring policy compliance.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement with 1-3 days on-site weekly and remote days otherwise, collaborating with Risk, Real Estate, Marketing, Finance and HR teams to deliver value.

Qualifications

  • Experience in procurement and supplier processes with formal sourcing knowledge.
  • Ability to draft contract schedules (e.g., SOW, SLA) is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication with negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of back-office operations, offshoring and outsourcing contracts is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Define issues and develop procurement approaches for internal clients.
  • Develop, negotiate, execute and implement low to moderate complexity contracts.
  • Lead contract negotiations and secure authorizations for execution.
  • Provide advisory services to internal clients based on business needs.

Whatyou’llbe doing

The Procurement team provides sourcing support to business partners in executing on their priorities across all aspects of the third-party lifecycle, including advising on sourcing approach, supporting supplier selectionmethodologies(e.g., RFPs), negotiating, and contracting.The team supports adiverse portfolioofCorporate functions which includes Risk, Enterprise Real Estate, Marketing, Finance, HR, and other functional groups. As aProcurementConsultant, youwillmanagetheend-to-endprocurement activities focusing on indirect spend categories to supporttheaforementioned linesof businesses.You will define issues and resolve in an innovative way when our internal clients present requests in a general or ambiguous manner. You will develop and provide a procurement approach and recommendations as part of advisory service to our internal clients based on their business requirements and contract analysis. You will develop, negotiate,executeand implement low to moderate complexity procurement contracts, while ensuring that CIBC risks are mitigated and regulatory requirements & CIBC policies are adhered to. Plus, you will develop contract content (ex. commercial terms and descriptivecontent)independently or in partnership with a legal resource and lead the contract negotiations and secure authorizations for agreement execution.

  • Client Engagement & Relationship Management – Help clients meet their business goals by providing better service and value. Focus on each client experience and make every interaction meaningful. Establish andmaintainhealthy working relationships with business partners, suppliers, and peers. Develops trusted advisor relationships andprovidevalued consulting advice tofacilitatethe effective management and completion of procurement initiatives. Align procurement solutions with the businessobjectives. This role works with Supplier Risk Stakeholders, Relationship Managers and Business Leads to ensure CIBC’s supplier management framework is implemented.

  • Risk Management & Industry Knowledge - Ensure theappropriate governanceis followed and adhered to for all contracts. Keep abreast of the industry knowledge, innovations and advancements in business practices andoperations.

  • Influencing and Negotiations – Become a strong influencer and negotiator with the ability to liaise with all levels of stakeholders. Manage contract drafting, negotiations and finalization and the approval processes.Comply withCIBC’s Procurement and Supplier Governance policies and process.

  • Problem Solving - Listen, ask questions, and put yourself in the client’s shoes. Act like an owner by taking accountability for clientissues, andknow when to collaborate with others to build a better solution together.

  • Manage Multiple Priorities - Use effective self-management practices to manage multiple concurrentobjectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

Who you are
  • You candemonstrateexperience in procurement and/or supplier processes, practices, tools and templates and principles of formal sourcing processes. You maximize efficiencies,processesand systems to meet CIBC business goals. You have strong self-planning skills sufficient to plan your own assignments according to general work plans; ability to multi-task, plan and meet timelines. Experience drafting various contract schedules (e.g., Scope of Work, SLA, etc.) is preferred but not necessary. You have strong written and oral communication skills and the desire todevelopstrong influencing and negotiationskills. Knowledge ofback officeoperations, offshoring and outsourcingservices basedcontracts would be an asset.
