Consultant, Business Systems Analyst (Data Migration and SQL)

Role Summary

The Consultant, Business Systems Analyst works with internal and external stakeholders, including technology and business teams, to develop and implement data solutions tailored to a project’s requirements. Projects vary from Waterfall to Agile and technology ranges from legacy to cutting-edge. The analyst is involved throughout the lifecycle, capturing and documenting requirements, test strategy/plans, test cases, execution of testing, sign off and implementation into production.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Deliver excellence and develop deep understanding of business issues and data challenges.
Ensure requirements are clear, complete and eliminate ambiguities.
Establish solution quality through validation against requirements.
Communicate clearly with all project team members to identify and resolve issues.
Escalate issues promptly when required.
Participate in development of project plans to set workload expectations and schedules.
Own responsibility to meet deadlines and complete work according to project plans.
Drive and own requirements gathering across the overall project.
Create detailed functional and non-functional requirements documents, review and obtain sign off from stakeholders.
Provide ongoing updates and review throughout the project lifecycle.
Create and execute test strategy, plans and test cases.
Own defect management and drive regression testing if required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other

3-5 years of experience on technical projects as a Business Systems Analyst.
Practical working knowledge of SDLC methodologies, specifically Agile and Waterfall.
Experience working with databases, data warehouses, ETLs, analytics and reporting.
Experience in SQL, Teradata or Oracle.
General knowledge in analytics/BI tools (MicroStrategy, Tableau, Cognos, Looker) and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) or big data (Hadoop, Hive, Impala).
Demonstrated skills in documenting requirements (BRD, SRS, Test Documents, MOP, Data Mapping, or Data Dictionaries).
Collaboration with internal teams (Project X Ltd.), external teams (3rd parties) and client team members.
Critical thinking capabilities and consultative mindset.
Bachelor’s Degree in Software, Computer Science/Engineering fields or related industry experience.
