Job summary

CIBC is seeking a Consultant, Application Development in Toronto to join the Capital Markets, Total Risk Management Technology group. You will design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale applications that enhance compliance and reporting for regulators and stakeholders, leading the technical design and integration efforts.

In a hybrid work model (1-3 days on-site), you will collaborate with backend teams and leverage .NET/C#, SQL Server, SSIS, and Azure cloud technologies to deliver robust

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with C#.NET including OOP and SOLID principles.
  • Strong SQL Server/SSIS skills with understanding of JOINS, indexing and query optimization.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services (Functions, Blob) and microservices is a plus, plus writing unit/automation tests.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex applications; architect technical design and integration.
  • Lead multi-year technology roadmaps and backend system enhancements.
  • Mentor developers; conduct code reviews and ensure project alignment with goals.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets, Total Risk Management Technology group. You’ll be at the heart of CIBC’s digital transformation, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale applications involving multiple back-end systems. As a Consultant, Application Development, you’ll assemble, implement, and maintain accurate and user-friendly solutions that enhance compliance and reporting efficiency for regulatory bodies and stakeholders. You’ll lead the planning and strategy for the technical design, development and integration of these applications.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You'll Succeed
  • Design and development - Perform and coordinate complicated application programming activities. Design the application's technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches. Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions.
  • Strategic planning - Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business goals. Lead multiple complicated projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
  • Leadership skills - Act as development team lead and run code-review sessions with the wider team to ensure the project is on track to meet goals. Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.
Who You Are
  • You can demonstrate experience with: at least 3 years with good understanding of- C#.NET concepts like OOPs, SOLID, etc. and has ability to write production ready code. SQL Server and SSIS- Comfortable with stored procedures, JOINS, Indexes, query optimization, etc. Strong asset if you have experience with Azure Cloud specifically Azure Functions, Azure Blob Storage, microservices, etc. You need to know basic software development principles and patterns, as well as how to write unit tests and automation tests
