Job summary

CIBC's Capital Markets Technology team seeks a Consultant, Reporting and Analytics to deliver data insights, build dashboards, and support senior management decisions. The role requires translating business questions into technical solutions and delivering results with SQL, Pyspark, Power BI.

A hybrid work arrangement with 2-3 days on-site and remote days, Toronto location. You bring 3–5 years in analytics, proficiency in Power BI (≥2 years), and a quantitative degree.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in data analytics or BI roles.
  • At least 2 years with Power BI.
  • Experience with Capital Markets is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to identify trends.
  • Build interactive dashboards and reports with Power BI/Tableau.
  • Translate business questions into data requirements and solutions.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology team, the Consultant, Reporting and Analytics is responsible for supporting the delivery of advanced advice in data analytics, providing research and insights, and ensuring senior management has the relevant information to make informed decisions. The Consultant, Reporting and Analytics applies strong problem framing and solving skills, translate business questions to data requirements and analytical solutions; provides insights that inform decisions influencing department strategy, performs in-depth analysis of research information to identify opportunities, develop relevant dashboards, and makes recommendations for business use. The role performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions involving Business Intelligence.

How you’ll succeed
  • Data Analysis & Insights - Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to uncover trends and opportunities. Use SQL and Pyspark to process and prepare data for PowerBI dashboard.
  • Visualization & Reporting - Build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Python visualization libraries.
  • Strategic Thinking – Drive, manage and execute data and reporting projects and initiatives in alignment with CIBC Strategy while supporting the business goals, objectives, and key performance indicators. Ability to think strategically about how to mobilize and engage teams across the enterprise to deliver strategic change.
  • Innovative Problem Solving - Actively lead the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of complex data analytics and visualization solutions
  • Communication - Excellent verbal and writing skills to effectively articulate ideas and opinions that involve analysis, processes, and technology solutions to others with different disciplinary backgrounds. Ability to produce a variety of business documents that demonstrate command of language, clarity of thought and orderliness of presentation.
Who you are
  • You can demonstrate experience in: 3–5 years in data analytics, business intelligence, or related roles. You must have at least 2 years of experience with PowerBI; coupled with at least 4 years of SQL experience. It’s an asset if you have Python and Microsoft Copilot Studio experience, and if you’ve worked within Capital Markets/Equities.
  • You have a degree in a quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, physics, business) or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is an asset (i.e. MMA, MBAN, MSc, MA, MBA). You have the “Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate” certification.
  • You are a problem solver. You have exceptional critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills with demonstrated ability to independently identify and analyze business problems and recommend solutions.
  • You demonstrate knowledge in organization's Information Technology (IT) environment and understand the integration / interdependencies of various processes across a line of business.
