We are a company that focuses on the process of continuous improvement through lean manufacturing concepts. HFI is on the ascent, and we are looking for a Construction Site Technical Lead to help support the expansion of our business.
Construction Site Technical Lead
Member of: Project Team
Reports to: Engineering & Technical Director
Schedule: Full Time (Days); 8-hour shift; 8 am – 4:30 pm
Status: New Position One-Year Contract
Wage: 80,000 – 90,000 salary position depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Review and Interpret: Thoroughly review all project documents, including architectural/engineering drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs, to ensure the GC's execution aligns with design intent.
- Site Inspections: Conduct daily, detailed site inspections of the GC's work (e.g., structural, MEP, finishes) to verify compliance with contractual and quality requirements.
- Deficiency Tracking: Identify, document, and track all construction deficiencies, non-conformances, and safety violations, ensuring the GC implements timely and effective corrective actions.
- Materials Verification: Verify that all installed materials and equipment match the approved submittals and specifications.
- Testing & Commissioning: Witness and sign off on key material testing, field inspections, and system commissioning activities.
- Project Management & Reporting
- Schedule Monitoring: Closely monitor the GC's progress against the approved project schedule, identifying potential delays and proactive mitigation strategies.
- Issue Resolution: Facilitate the efficient resolution of technical field issues, conflicts, and RFI responses between the design team and the GC.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare comprehensive daily and weekly reports for the Owner, detailing site activities, progress achieved, issues encountered, and quality observations.
- Payment Verification: Review and recommend approval of the GC's applications for payment, verifying that claimed work has been satisfactorily completed and materials are on-site/incorporated.
- Communication & Safety
- Liaison: Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for the Owner, the General Contractor, and the Design Team.
- Meetings: Participate in and lead technical discussions, progress meetings, and coordination sessions.
- Safety: Monitor and hold the GC accountable for maintaining a safe work environment and strict adherence to all site safety plans and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial, institutional, or large-scale residential construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory, QC, or Owner's Representative role.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing, quality control procedures, and building codes.
- Certifications (Preferred): P.Eng., RA, CCM, or other relevant professional certifications.
- Skills: Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex), scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, P6), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgment.
