Position Summary

The ideal candidate is an experienced safety professional who leads by example and brings a proactive, inclusive, and detail-oriented approach to onsite safety. You’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies, and for fostering a culturally safe and respectful work environment that reflects NUQO’s values.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership

  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all WorkSafeBC regulations, local bylaws, and NUQO’s internal safety policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and incident investigations.
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in a timely, collaborative manner.
  • Ensure safety documentation is up to date and complete.

Digital Safety Management

  • Use SiteDocs to manage all safety forms, inspections, and reporting (knowledge required).
  • Ensure all subcontractors and workers are trained and logged within the system.
  • Maintain accurate digital records for audits and inspections.
  • Promote a culturally safe, inclusive, and equitable job site for all workers and trades.
  • Uphold a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behaviour.
  • Support mental health and well-being initiatives on site.
  • Provide safety orientations for new workers and site visitors.
  • Mentor and guide junior workers and apprentices on best safety practices.
  • Collaborate with site leaders to ensure clear communication and shared accountability for safety.

Community & Environmental Stewardship

  • Ensure site operations minimize impact on the surrounding community and environment.
  • Uphold NUQO’s standards for low-impact, community-conscious construction.
Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in construction site safety, preferably in modular or residential construction.
  • Proven knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Required knowledge of SiteDocs safety platform.
  • Experience with incident investigation, safety audits, and safety training delivery.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam is an asset for reviewing drawings in coordination with the site team.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain calm and professionalism under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to commute in the Lower Mainland, BC.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Coverage of professional development and certification fees.
  • Opportunities to lead meaningful projects and support diverse, inclusive workforces.
  • A chance to grow within a values-driven, B Corp-certified construction company.
