Job summary

Safety First Consulting Ltd. is seeking an experienced Site Safety Advisor / First Aid Attendant to support a busy construction site. This field role requires spending most days on site with supervisors, subcontractors, trades, and workers, applying safety rules and responding to incidents.

You will conduct inspections, maintain records, provide first aid, and escalate issues to site management. The role demands strong communication, BC safety regulations knowledge, a valid BC driver’s license,

Qualifications

  • Current WorkSafeBC Level 2 First Aid certification or higher.
  • Solid knowledge of BC Workers Compensation Act and OHS Regulations for construction.
  • BC Class 5 Drivers License.
  • Experience on active multi-trade construction sites.
  • Able to challenge unsafe work while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize multiple safety and administrative responsibilities.
  • Comfortable with phones, tablets, email, and digital safety-management systems.
  • Physically able to walk the site, use stairs, work outdoors, and do light physical duties.
  • Reliable, punctual, and consistently onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Act as onsite safety representative and address unsafe acts and conditions immediately.
  • Communicate site safety expectations clearly and professionally; follow up until corrective actions are done.
  • Conduct regular site inspections; document hazards, deficiencies, and follow-up items.
  • Provide first aid coverage per the project's first aid assessment and WorkSafeBC requirements; respond to injuries and emergencies and keep first aid records current.
  • Escalate serious, repeated, or unresolved concerns to site management.
  • Assist with orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, incident/near-miss investigations, and emergency drills.
  • Maintain cones, barricades, signage, and exclusion zones; fix minor deficiencies and do light housekeeping where safe.
  • Complete a daily site safety report and maintain inspection reports, incident documentation, orientation/training records, and safety boards. Daily reporting is a core requirement and must be finished before end of shift.
  • Assist with reasonable light-duty site tasks when safety and first aid duties permit.

Job description

We're hiring an experienced, hands-on Site Safety Advisor / First Aid Attendant for an active construction site. This is a field role, not a desk job: you'll spend most of your day on site working directly with supervisors, subcontractors, trades, and workers. You'll be backed by a friendly, supportive team that listens when you raise a concern and has your back when a conversation gets firm. You'll have the autonomy to run your day and the authority to act on what you see.

What We're Looking For
  • Current WorkSafeBC Level 2 (Intermediate) First Aid certification or higher; Transportation Endorsement is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of the BC Workers Compensation Act and OHS Regulation as they apply to construction.
  • BC Class 5 Drivers License
  • Practical experience on active multi-trade construction sites.
  • Comfortable challenging unsafe work and holding contractors accountable, while keeping positive working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize multiple safety and administrative responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Comfortable with phones, tablets, email, and digital safety-management systems.
  • Physically able to walk the site, use stairs, work outdoors, and do light physical duties.
  • Reliable, punctual, and consistently onsite.
Assets

Fall Protection, WHMIS, Incident Investigation, Workplace Inspections, Hazard Assessment/FLHA, Traffic Control Person, Confined Space Awareness, Silica Awareness, Mobile Equipment Awareness, Supervisor Safety Training, Advanced First Aid. Previous CSO/First Aid Attendant experience, multi-family or commercial experience, familiarity with safety-management platforms, and a valid driver's licence are all pluses.

Authority

You are authorized to communicate site safety expectations and require corrective action for unsafe conditions or activities. You're expected to use sound judgment and know when to involve site supervision, management, or another competent person.
