Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute project communications ensuring timely and accurate information distribution.
  • Utilize project management platforms and lead meetings with clear action items.
  • Develop and award contracts to subcontractors and manage changes.
  • Prepare and submit applications to municipalities and utilities as required.
  • Pre-construction tasks: drawing/specification reviews, tendering and negotiations.
  • Onsite construction oversight to ensure standards and specs are met.
  • Forecast monthly budgets and cashflow for projects.
  • Coordinate with owner/client, contractors, municipality and other stakeholders.

Summary

The ProjectManager is responsible for the following primary areas: issuance of tenders andcontracts for trades, management of schedule, communication and liaison withall stakeholders, quality control management, compliance with buildingspecifications, code and municipal bylaws, project budgets / costing oversight,personnel oversight and management of health & safety practices andprocedures on site.

The ProjectManager is a collaborative team player, focused on the strategic objectives ofthe company through project delivery. This is a site-based position located in eitherSaskatoon or Regina.

Responsibilities

As the ProjectManager responsibilities of this position include:

  • Manage project activities throughout the life cycleof the project, including the allocation of adequate resources,scheduling, documentation, and budgets.
  • Prepare reports, including but not limited to projectprogress reports, results achieved reports, lesson learned documentationand recommendations for improvement documentation.
  • Plan and execute project communications ensuringtimely and accurate distribution of information, documentation, and issueresolution to all stakeholders.
  • Utilization of project management platforms.
  • Management of building project plans from inception,implementing structure and processes from the ground up to ensure projectsuccess.
  • Lead, facilitate and communicate effective projectmeetings, and meeting notes to the project team at the end of themeetings.
  • Provide feedback and communication; establish andbuild healthy working relations and partnerships with projectstakeholders.
  • Ensure project and contract activities, deliverables,milestones, timelines, and financial commitments are tracked, andcommitments are being fulfilled.
  • Rigorous management of all contractual obligations.
  • Verification of subcontractor prequalification forall subtrades.
  • Development and award of contracts to successfulsubcontractors.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates on the projectsto executive team.
  • Achieve the project budget and complete accuratemonthly forecasts.
  • Act as primary liaison with owner / client,contractors, municipality, and other project stakeholders.
  • Organize project teams into suitable workgroups andguide the team through their efforts to produce deliverables accordingspecification.
  • Prepare & execute contracts and negotiaterevisions.
  • Prepare and submit applications to localmunicipality, utility owners and other stakeholders as required.
  • Pre-construction: drawing review, specificationreviews, design reviews, coordinating and interacting with the consultantteam, engagement of general contractors, tender review, bidding andnegotiation, value engineering, review, and initiation of constructioncontracts, obtain approvals for project funding, and obtaining permits.
  • Construction duties and responsibilities include onsite representation, ensuring the project is constructed to the requiredstandards and specifications, scheduling with contractors, review andprocessing progress claims.
  • Manage change order requests from the consultants,general contractor, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Preparation and maintenance of the project budget andschedule.
  • Plan and execute building occupancy and projectcashflow. Create and prepare project summary for stakeholders (schedule,cost, and profitability forecasting).
  • Perform other duties as required by the GeneralManager.
Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an engineering degree or CET diploma isrequired.
  • 3+ years of project management experience isrequired.
  • Ability to read plans/blueprints and specificationsfor building construction
  • Strong understanding of contract administration
  • Familiarity working with subtrades.
  • Personable and great at building relationships
  • Familiarity with MS Project
