Job summary

Michels Canada is seeking a Project Manager to lead construction initiatives in Canada. You will plan, coordinate, and deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

The role requires overseeing project teams, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring adherence to quality and contractual requirements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–10+ years of experience in construction project management.
• Strong understanding of construction practices, contract administration, project controls, and safety management systems.
• Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders including clients, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage project teams and drive performance in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Experience with contract management, change orders, and claims administration is considered an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project or Primavera P6) is considered an asset.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• PMP certification is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, subcontractors, vendors, and clients, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
• Develop and manage project execution plans, including scope, budgets, schedules, resources, and milestones.
• Provide overall leadership for project delivery from planning through completion and closeout.
• Coordinate all project activities to ensure safe, efficient execution in accordance with contract requirements and specifications.
• Lead and align project teams, including Superintendents, subcontractors, consultants, and clients, to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure alignment between field execution and project goals, including schedule, cost, quality, and productivity performance.
• Lead workforce planning and resource allocation in coordination with Superintendents to ensure labour, subcontractor, and equipment availability aligns with project schedules and execution plans.
• Manage project budgets, forecast costs, and ensure financial performance remains aligned with approved targets.
• Oversee change orders, claims, and contract variations, including evaluation and documentation support.
• Act as the primary client contact and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Serve as the escalation point for client concerns, disputes, and contractual issues.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect safety, schedule, quality, and cost outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
