About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Primary purpose is to safely build cement floors, build and shotcrete walls U/G
  • Build refuge stations
  • Move fans U/G
  • Work on pipes U/G (air, water, and dewatering)
  • Assist with mine pumping tasks (dewatering, flooding)
  • Coordinate the safe execution of powder delivery U/G
  • Responsible for building permanent barricades
  • Safely operate scoop
  • Safely operate shotcrete machine
  • Safely operate tractor with basket
  • Safely operate scissor truck
  • Install grout plugs

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 education preferred
  • Must have basic Underground modules completed
  • Relevant specialty Underground modules for the position is preferred (if applicable)
  • Minimum 1 year Underground experience
  • Minimum 6 months experience safely operating a scoop
  • Minimum 6 months experience safely installing cables and grouting
  • Carpentry skills would definitely be an asset
  • Able to follow directions with minimal supervision
  • Adaptable to changing priorities
