What Is The Opportunity?

Aecon Foundations is a leader in the Canadian Foundations industry, providing services from shoring to foundation piling across various sectors. We act as a strong partner from project initiation to execution.

Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Manager/General Superintendent will manage day-to-day operations of a major infrastructure project in Toronto.

What You'll Do:

• Oversee project safety performance, conduct safety inspections and audits, support investigations, and ensure corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Project Director and partners to deliver construction projects.
• Manage construction of subterranean foundations in an urban environment.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee construction operations, manpower, and equipment.
• Manage project costs and controls.
• Oversee subcontractor performance ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, unions, and partners.
• Understand commercial terms and subcontractor responsibilities.
• Ensure activities align with corporate policies and strategic plans.
• Resolve legal disputes and escalate as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring:

• Technical diploma or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years in operational leadership roles like Project Manager or Superintendent.
• Experience with heavy civil infrastructure, foundations, or LRT projects.
• Understanding of geotechnical construction principles.
• Experience working with unions and understanding labor laws.
• Experience in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
• Strong commercial acumen and contract management skills.
• Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to resolve disputes independently.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Project.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work under pressure.
