What we offer

As the Construction Manager, you will lead a team of Senior Builders in the construction of houses. In partnership with other divisional construction leaders, you will be accountable for construction schedules and the timely integration of construction trades, materials, documentation, and staffing. Reporting to the VP of Construction, the Construction Manager ensures the delivery of clean, complete, and deficiency-free homes while embodying our mission of providing the best homeowner experience.

What you’ll do
  • Embody Mattamy’s core values of Commitment, Teamwork, Sustainability, and Community.
  • Coach, inspire, and develop site managers through various strategic methods to ensure continuous improvement and succession planning.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of construction and seasonal construction programs through regular review of systems and tools with Senior Builders / Project Managers.
  • Proactively generate improvements to existing reporting and data integrity, and explore new ways of analyzing historic information.
  • Analyze and interpret patterns and trends in production data for early diagnosis of issues and create corrective measures.
  • Ensure that homes / condos are built to the requirements and specifications established by construction drawings, including Design Centre change options and upgrades, building codes, and all Mattamy standards.
  • Oversee the measurement and evaluation of quality control with respect to materials and workmanship through regular review and monitoring. Implement corrective measures or improvements as appropriate.
  • Monitor production schedules, critical paths for projects, and cost control to ensure that homes are completed on time and within budget.
  • Oversee the maintenance of adequate staffing at community sites to ensure timely construction of homes, including overseeing hiring, evaluation, and performance management of staff.
  • Foster communication between community sites and head office. Provide direction and support to staff to facilitate the completion of work as per the production schedule and in accordance with Mattamy’s standards and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with suppliers and trade contractors. Communicate company’s quality and performance standards to each trade contractor and supplier. Conduct periodic work inspections to ensure standards are met.
  • Keep the Vice President of Construction informed of each project’s current progress and review project outlooks with Senior Builders / Project Managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
  • Post-secondary education in Architecture, Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related field, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of residential construction experience at a senior level.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Skills in building relationships within a broad network of industry contacts.
  • Flexibility in work hours as required.
  • Highly developed organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfortable using systems and technology (MS Word, Excel, JD Edwards, Email, SharePoint).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract, as the role requires operating a Mattamy vehicle to perform duties.
