Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Calgary, Alberta seeks a Construction Manager to join our growing team on a major rail project. You will lead and oversee construction delivery for urban infrastructure, coordinating with track, roads, utilities, and station works to ensure safe, on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has a Civil/Structural or Construction Management background, a P.Eng. in Alberta, and at least 15 years of progressive rail or heavy civil experience, including leadership in urban environments and

• P.Eng. designation in Alberta preferred/eligible.
• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in major transportation, rail, bridge, or heavy civil projects.
• Experience in senior leadership roles such as Construction Manager, Resident Engineer or Delivery Manager.
• Experience delivering construction in urban environments and with bridge projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage design changes, technical queries, and field engineering issues during construction.
• Oversee construction of at-grade LRT stations and related facilities.
• Ensure integration of station works with track, roadway, utilities and urban realm elements.
• Coordinate environmental, geotechnical and other stakeholders during river crossing construction.
• Facilitate resolution of interface issues among packages and stakeholders.
• Review progress, earned value, forecasts, and productivity metrics.

Come join us in reshaping the future with AtkinsRéalis. AtkinsRéalis is in hiring a Construction Manager to join our growing team. This position will be based in our Calgary, Alberta offices supporting a transformative major rail project in downtown Calgary!

Your role

• Lead and manage construction delivery activities for assigned LRT infrastructure packages.
• Provide proactive oversight of schedule, budget, quality, risk, and safety performance.
• Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations, specifications, and project objectives.
• Lead constructability reviews and ensure designs are optimized for safe and efficient construction.
• Review design submissions for completeness, constructability, cost implications, schedule impacts, and operational requirements.
• Manage design changes, technical queries, and field engineering issues during construction.
• Oversee construction of at-grade LRT stations and associated passenger facilities.
• Ensure effective integration of station works with track, roadway, utility, and urban realm elements.
• Coordinate environmental, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and structural stakeholders during river crossing construction.
• Facilitate resolution of interface issues among construction packages and project stakeholders.
• Review construction progress, earned value metrics, forecasts, and productivity indicators.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with project health and safety requirements.

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of education and work experience
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration preferred.
• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in major transportation, rail, bridge, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
• Experience serving in a Construction Manager, Resident Engineer, Project Manager, Delivery Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
• Experience managing construction within active urban environments.
• Extensive bridge construction experience including concrete and steel structures.
• Experience with collaborative delivery models including Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, or P3 delivery.
• Experience working with municipal and provincial regulatory agencies in Alberta is preferred.
