Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a seasoned Civil/Structural Engineer to perform design and reviews for structural changes, with a focus on steel, reinforced concrete and masonry.

Ideal candidates hold a Canadian PE license, Ontario preference, and at least eight years of hands-on experience in design and site execution, with strong knowledge of codes and standards and the ability to coordinate across disciplines on busy construction projects.

Qualifications

• Civil/structural engineering degree and licensure in Canada.
• Master's degree or higher is an asset.
• Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of use of analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
• Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry, and prepare design documents.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
• Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
• Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
• Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
• Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical information and design documentation.
• Attend meetings with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
• Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.

Your role

About you

• Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
• Master's degree and above is an asset.
• Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
• Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
• Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
• Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
• Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
• Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• This role requires consistent on-site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
