Qillaq Innovations seeks a Construction labourer and helper in Cambridge Bay to support site activities, handle materials, assist in forming, framing and pouring concrete, and maintain a clean, safe work area. The role involves long outdoor hours and potential overtime.

Responsibilities include loading and unloading, operating basic tools, and assisting with demolition and site preparation. Candidates should be physically capable and fluent in English with a valid driver’s license and safety

Qualifications

• Fluent in English required.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
• Set up and dismantle forms, scaffolding, ramps, and barricades.
• Mix, pour, and spread concrete and asphalt.
• Assist in framing houses, walls, and roofs.
• Assist in building demolition and site cleanup.
• Perform routine maintenance and clean up spills.
• Remove rubble and debris from sites.
• Work long hours in outdoor conditions.

• The candidate must load, unload, and transport construction materials.
• The candidate must be capable of erecting and dismantling concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades.
• The candidate will be responsible for mixing, pouring, and spreading materials such as concrete and asphalt.
• The candidate will be required to assist in the framing of houses, the erection of walls, and the construction of roofs.
• The candidate must assist in the demolition of buildings.
• The candidate must clean and stack salvaged materials.
• The candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance work.
• The candidate must clean up chemical spills and other contaminants.
• The candidate must remove rubble and other debris from construction sites.

Job Requirements

• The candidate should be fluent in English language.
• There are no standard education requirements such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma.
• The ideal candidate will have at least 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related industry.
• The candidate must have a Driver’s License (Class 3 or D), a First Aid Certificate, and a CPR Certificate.

• The candidate must have prior experience with snow removal.
• The candidate must be skilled in the construction of residential and poured concrete structures.

Security and safety

• The candidate should be subjected to a thorough criminal background check as well as a driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information

• The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence.
• The candidate’s travel expenses will be covered by the employer.
