Job summary

MS DRYWALL LTD. is seeking a construction estimator in Calgary to prepare labour and material cost estimates and read drawings to determine work requirements. You will operate CADD and other software, monitor expenses and coordinate with engineers and subcontractors.

Requirements include a secondary school certificate and 1–2 years of experience. This is a full-time on-site role with immediate start and a 30-hour work week at approximately CAD 41 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year to less than 2 years of experience required.
• Secondary school graduation certificate is required.
• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Operate CADD and other computer software systems
• Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads
• Utilize quantity take-off procedures
• Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems
• Monitor and adjust contract expenditures
• Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors
• Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
