Job summary

telMAX Inc. in Ontario seeks a Construction Co-op student for a Fall 2026 four-month term.

You will support FTTH outside plant construction projects, working with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineering, vendors and internal teams to gain hands-on experience in project coordination, field operations and documentation. This role offers exposure to scheduling, reporting, and process improvements while you develop skills in telecommunications infrastructure and construction management

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college/university program in construction or related field.
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to learn telecommunications construction processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Construction Managers with day-to-day coordination of FTTH projects.
  • Track schedules, milestones, deliverables, and construction progress.
  • Maintain project trackers, records and documentation.
  • Coordinate activities between Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, vendors, and teams.
  • Assist with close-out activities and ensure documentation is complete.

CONSTRUCTION CO-OP STUDENT - 4 MONTHS (FALL 2026)

Your Position & How You Will Contribute:

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Construction Co-op student will have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting the delivery of large-scale Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) outside plant construction projects. The successful student will work closely with with Construction Managers, Project Managers, Engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and other internal teams. The role will provide exposure to construction project coordination, vendor management, reporting, field operations, project documentation, and issue resolution.

Responsibilities & Key Duties:
Construction and Project Coordination
  • Support Construction Managers with the day-to-day coordination of FTTH construction projects.
  • Assist with tracking project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and construction progress.
  • Maintain accurate project trackers, records, and construction documentation.
  • Assist with coordinating activities between Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, vendors, and other internal teams.
  • Track outstanding project actions and follow up with stakeholders to ensure deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Support project close-out activities and ensure required documentation is complete.
Vendor and Field Support
  • Support the Construction team in identifying and escalating issues that may affect schedule, quality, or project delivery.
  • Participate in site visits, where appropriate, to gain exposure to construction activities and field operations.
  • Support the collection and organization of information related to construction quality, restoration, and completion.
Administrative, Reporting and Data Analysis
  • Assist with preparing weekly and monthly construction reports.
  • Use Excel and other reporting tools to analyze construction data and identify trends or potential risks.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and updates for Construction leadership and project governance meetings.
  • Assist with construction-related documentation, purchase requisitions, vendor records, and administrative processes.
  • Support meeting coordination, including agendas, action items, and follow-ups.
  • Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, reporting, and administrative workflows.
What You Bring:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and project trackers.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop an understanding of telecommunications construction and outside plant operations.
Experience:
  • Previous construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, or project coordination experience is an asset but not required.
Education:
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Business Administration, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
