Job summary

Dufferin Construction Central – Toronto, Ontario is hiring a Construction Coordinator to support project teams with planning, coordination and supervision of construction activities.

The position requires a Civil Engineering Degree or Technologist/Technician Diploma (or 2–3 years related experience) and a commitment to long hours, including overtime and some night shifts; travel to job sites is expected. Salary is 65,000 CAD per year with a discretionary annual bonus up to 7.5% of base pay.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering Degree and Civil Engineering Technologist or Technician Diploma or 2–3 years related experience.
• Resiliency, critical thinker, problem solver and team player.
• Standard 50 hours per week, overtime and night shifts based on operational requirements.
• Working on a job site, from a construction site trailer.
• Travel to/from/within jobsite(s).
• Daily exposure to construction environment (heavy equipment, oncoming traffic, weather).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Superintendent in planning, coordinating and supervising construction activities including crew and equipment.
• Ensure OH&S compliance for construction projects by implementing the Company’s OH&S management system.
• Maintain and manage plans, specifications, cost, and material estimates, subcontract and related reports.
• Establish, monitor and update construction work schedules.
• Maintain accurate cost control plans by entering daily units and processing timecards and material slips.
• Coordinate procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of PO’s.
• Expedite progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra work orders as per contract.
• Calculate productivity and material yields.
• Arrange and conduct construction field services as required.
• Maintain diary for each project on a daily basis.

• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for construction projects by implementing the Company’s OH&S management system.
• Maintain and manage plans, specifications, cost, and material estimates, subcontract and related reports.
• Establish, monitor and initiate updates to, construction work schedules.
• Maintain accurate cost control plans by entering daily units of completion and processing timecards and material packing slips for payment and cost control updates.
• Coordinate proper procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of purchase orders.
• Expedite progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra work orders as per contract.
• Calculate all productivity and material yields.
• Arrange and conduct construction field services as required.
• Maintain diary for each project on a daily basis.
• Employees may also be assigned other work as required.
