Job summary

VanDel Construction in Bloomingdale, Ontario is seeking a skilled construction worker to join our on-site team. You will read blueprints, prepare layouts and lay foundations, as well as assist with measurements and material estimates across residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

The role involves supervising other workers, instructing apprentices, and coordinating site activities to meet tight deadlines in a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation required.
• Experience an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs.
• Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements.
• Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites.
• Instruct apprentices.
• Supervise other workers.
• Estimate costs and materials.
• Maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments.
