Job summary

The Windfall project, located in northern Québec and operated by Gold Fields, is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Advisor. Based at the Windfall site in Nord-du-Québec, you will support industrial hygiene and occupational health with a 15 days on / 13 days off schedule, with transportation, accommodation and meals provided.

You will inspect environments, identify hazards, plan sampling campaigns, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while collaborating with multiple departments

Qualifications

• University degree in occupational hygiene.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.
• ROH designation (an asset).
• Health and Safety on Construction Sites ASP Training (an asset).
• Explosives permit (an asset).
• Mining modules (FMTM 1-5-7) (an asset).
• Ability to communicate in English (an asset).

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess various work environments.
• Identify industrial contaminants and health hazards.
• Develop sampling campaigns strategy and plan.
• Calibrate and use specialized devices and instruments.
• Conduct sampling in workers' environment.
• Analyze results and recommend exposure controls.
• Prepare clear technical and administrative documents.
• Ensure compliance with industrial hygiene laws and regs.
• Develop objectives and priorities for hygiene and health.
• Collaborate with departments and provide training.

Reporting to the Health Services Superintendent, the Industrial Hygiene Advisor will assist with tasks related to industrial hygiene and occupational health. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, the advisor will work a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals are provided.

Duties and responsibilities

• Inspect various work environments
• Identify industrial contaminants and other health hazards
• Develop a strategy and plan sampling campaigns
• Calibrate and use various specialized devices and instruments
• Conduct sampling on workers and in their work environment
• Analyze results and make recommendations on appropriate means to eliminate, reduce, or control worker exposure
• Write clear and structured technical and administrative documents while effectively presenting data
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to industrial hygiene and occupational health
• Develop objectives, actions, and priorities in industrial hygiene and occupational health
• Find sustainable solutions to issues related to industrial hygiene and occupational health
• Participate in the development and updating of the industrial hygiene and occupational health programProvide training and information across departments
• Collaborate with other departments
• Perform any other related tasks relevant to the success of the project

Required qualifications

• University degree in occupational hygiene
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
• Hold the Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH) designation (an asset)
• Have completed the Health and Safety on Construction Sites - ASP Construction training (an asset)
• Valid explosives permit (an asset)
• Hold mining modules (FMTM) 1-2-3-4-5-7 (an asset)
• Ability to communicate in English (an asset; will need to interact with English-speaking employees and suppliers)

Technical skills

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience in the mining or industrial sector (an asset)
• Experience working in a remote region on rotation (an asset)
