Job summary

Washington Corporations is looking for a Conductor to safely work with an Operations crew in New Westminster, BC. Responsibilities include moving railcars, communicating with partners, and contributing to safety culture. The ideal candidate must have a minimum grade 12 diploma and experience as a Conductor.

This role emphasizes customer service and teamwork, ensuring operational reliability and safety. A clean BC driver's license (Class 5 minimum) is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 diploma completion or GED equivalent.
• Must have experience as a Conductor.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must have a clean and valid BC driver’s license, Class 5 minimum.

Responsibilities

• Safely work with an Operations crew to move railcars during switching and yard movements.
• Communicate professionally with customers and crew members.
• Represent BWRS through a strong commitment to customer service.
• Contribute to a culture of safety and accountability in the workplace.
• Observe hand and radio signals in accordance with railroad rules.
• Operate track switches as needed.
• Perform procedures required to couple/uncouple rail cars.
• Apply hand brakes on rail cars not in active use.
• Ensure proper permissions are obtained.

• Represent BWRS through a strong commitment to customer service, teamwork, and operational reliability;

• Contribute to a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability in the workplace;

• Observe hand and radio signals in the yard in accordance with railroad rules and regulations;

• Operate track switches as needed;

• Perform procedures required to couple/uncouple rail cars;

• Apply hand brakes on rail cars not in active use; and

• Ensure proper permissions and authorities are obtained.
