Job summary

Crosskey Marketing Inc. is seeking experienced Railway Conductors to support rail operations on a short line railway. Full-time, part-time, and casual positions are available.

Responsibilities include train movements, coupling/uncoupling, switching, inspections, and regulatory compliance. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, with a valid driver’s license and CROR medical requirement.

Qualifications

  • Prior qualification and experience as a railway conductor is a requirement.
  • Physically fit to pull self up and down from a railcar and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • CROR rules exam and railway medical must be passed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform train movements and switch operations with the Locomotive Engineer.
  • Couple/uncouple railcars, operate track switches, apply and release hand brakes.
  • Position railcars and inspect equipment for defects.
  • Maintain safety and follow operating rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate movements via radio and signals clearly.

Job description

Crosskey Marketing Inc. is seeking experienced Railway Conductors to support rail operations on a short line railway.

We are seeking candidates for full-time, part-time and casual positions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform train movements and general switching in coordination with the Locomotive Engineer
  • Couple and uncouple railcars, operate track switches, and apply and release hand brakes.
  • Pick up, set out, and position railcars as required.
  • Perform required inspections of railcars and equipment and identify and report defects.
  • Maintain strict adherence to operating rules, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Be able to provide and receive both verbal and printed instructions concerning the movement and placement of rail cars.
  • Be able to effectively communicate with customers.
  • Provide clear and accurate radio and hand signals during switching operations.
  • Maintain situational awareness and have a strong commitment to safe railway operations.
Qualifications
  • Prior qualification and experience as a railway conductor is a requirement.
  • Physically fit, including the ability to pull self up and down from a railcar on a continuous basis, able to couple and uncouple air hoses, able to secure railcar brakes, derails, and switches.
  • Physically capable of climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective radio communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.
  • Applicants are required to hold a valid driver's licence.
  • Employment is conditional upon passing CROR rules examination and railway medical.
