Job summary

Chase Contracting Ltd, a Surrey-based concrete contractor, is seeking an experienced Concrete Formwork Carpenter to assemble, install, and dismantle formwork systems for concrete structures on projects across the Lower Mainland. You will work under a Foreman or Site Supervisor, mentor Apprentices, and contribute to a close-knit crew known for craftsmanship, reliability, and safety.

Full-time, permanent position with 40 hours per week; wages 38.00–50.00 CAD per hour, with overtime opportunities

Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional carpentry experience; four+ preferred.
  • Concrete formwork experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and use measuring tools.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and panel books.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and fit wood and other forming materials accurately.
  • Lay out walls, tie spacing, footings, foundations, and structural components.
  • Build and position forms for walls, slabs, beams, columns, and tilt-up panels.
  • Install bracing, ties, hardware, and reinforcement supports.
  • Ensure formwork is square, level, aligned, secure, and ready for concrete placement.
  • Safely strip forms after concrete has cured.
  • Mentor Apprentice Carpenters and assist with developing crew skills.
  • Communicate with supervisors and teammates to resolve jobsite challenges.
  • Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements.

Surrey, BC. Work is performed on-site at projects throughout Surrey, Langley, Burnaby, and surrounding Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley communities.

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Concrete Formwork Carpenter to assemble, install, and dismantle formwork systems for concrete structures. You will work under the direction of a Foreman or Site Supervisor, collaborate closely with the crew, and help mentor less-experienced Carpenters and Apprentices.

Concrete-forming experience is an asset but is not mandatory. If you are a capable Carpenter with at least three to four years of general carpentry experience, a strong attitude, and a willingness to learn the Chase Contracting way, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and panel books
  • Measure, cut, shape, and fit wood and other forming materials accurately
  • Lay out walls, tie spacing, footings, foundations, and structural components
  • Build and position forms for walls, slabs, beams, columns, and tilt-up panels
  • Install bracing, ties, hardware, and reinforcement supports
  • Ensure formwork is square, level, aligned, secure, and ready for concrete placement
  • Safely strip forms after concrete has cured
  • Clean, organize, and store reusable formwork materials
  • Inspect and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Mentor Apprentice Carpenters and assist with developing crew skills
  • Communicate with supervisors and teammates to resolve jobsite challenges
  • Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements
Qualifications
  • At least three years of professional carpentry experience required; four or more years preferred.
  • Concrete formwork experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to read construction drawings and use measuring tools accurately
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, including lifting and carrying materials, frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and ready to contribute every day
  • Willingness to learn new forming systems and follow company methods
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation to assigned job sites are required because some project locations may not be accessible by public transit.
  • Red Seal certification or formal schooling is welcome but not required
Pay and Benefits
  • Full-time, permanent position, averaging 40 hours per week
  • Pay: CA$38.00-$50.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability
