Job summary

Amrize in Nanaimo and Victoria is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our Construction division. You will provide support in all areas, placing and finishing concrete for curb, gutter and sidewalk projects, setting up forms, prepping base, and assisting in demolition of existing concrete.

Qualifications include a High school diploma and prior concrete experience as assets. You must lift 50 lbs, be able to work overtime including Saturdays, and follow all safety PPE protocols.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize in Nanaimo and Victoria is seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our Construction division. As a Finisher, you will provide support in all areas. You will be responsible for placing and finishing concrete (curb & gutter), setting up forms, prepping base course, and being involved in the demolition of existing concrete, and sidewalk.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

• Place and finish concrete in curb, gutter, and sidewalk projects.
• Set forms for grade and design.
• Operate small power tools.
• Assist in demolition of existing concrete.
• Complete Field Level Risk Assessments before beginning each task.
• Be involved in daily safety meetings.
• Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Required Work Experience: Previous concrete experience would be an asset.

Additional Requirements

• Prior experience in a concrete placement would be an asset.
• Prior work with power tools would be an asset.
• Safety Oriented.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment.
• Willing to work overtime when needed including Saturdays.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Able to work well with others.
• Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
