North America Construction (1993) Ltd. – NAC Constructors Ltd. (NAC) is seeking a Concrete Finisher / Skilled Labourer for the Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project in St. Thomas, ON.

Initially full-time with temporary travel within Southern Ontario. Duties include forming, dry finishing, grouting, waterproofing, floor pouring and slab installation. Requirements include 3–5 years in dry concrete finishing, grout mix knowledge, fit testing with a respirator, and safety certifications

Qualifications

• Must have 3-5 years of experience in dry concrete finishing in the heavy construction industry.
• Knowledge of grout mixes/mixing for colour match.
• Must be 'fit tested' with a respiratory-mask.
• Concrete pouring & wet finishing experience.
• Experience on 7 meter high walls is an asset.

Position Summary

Under the direction of Civil Superintendent the Cement Finisher is responsible for waterproofing, grouting, finishing, cutting & coring concrete, floor pouring, stain removal and cleaning, curing concrete, floor leveling, finishing, high tolerance finishing and slab installation. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry. Specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, quality control and safety associated with this industry. The Cement Finisher must be proficient at the following tasks: concrete finishing for heavy construction concrete products.

NAC is currently seeking a full-time Concrete Finisher / Skilled Labourer, initially based on our Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project in St. Thomas, ON. Temporary travel will be required within Southern Ontario.

Job Description

• Build, layout and execute forms as required, according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades
• Dry concrete finishing: concrete chipping and patching, grinding concrete and sack rubbing walls to receive paint
• Apply grout mixing/mixes and possess sound knowledge of grouting materials
• Waterproofing, grouting, finishing, cutting & coring concrete
• Floor pouring, stain removal and cleaning,
• Curing concrete, floor leveling, finishing, high tolerance finishing and slab installation
• Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment
• Receive and follow directions
• Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System
• Construct and/or assemble and dismantle scaffolding as required
• Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed
• Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations

Requirements

• Must have 3-5 years of experience in 'dry concrete finishing' in the heavy construction industry, including; grinding and chipping concrete, patching and repairing cone holes and sack rubbing walls
• Knowledge of grout mixes/mixing for colour match
• Must be 'fit tested' with a respiratory-mask
• Concrete pouring & wet finishing experience
• Experience on 7 meter high walls is an asset
• Knowledge of safe operation of tools and equipment, and workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
• Strong communication and positive teamwork skills
• Valid WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform and Working at Heights certificates are required
