North America Construction (1993) Ltd. – NAC Constructors Ltd. (NAC) is seeking a Carpenter/Formsetter for the Lakeshore Wastewater Treatment Plant project in Innisfil, ON.

The role focuses on building and installing wooden and advanced formwork, ensuring accuracy, safety and quality on concrete structures. Responsibilities include layout, form alignment, concrete pouring and scaffold tasks. 3–5 years formwork experience, proficiency with major systems (Doka, Logo, Aluma, PERI, EFCO) and safety

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience with various formwork in heavy construction.
  • Experience with advanced formwork systems (Doka, Logo, Aluma, PERI, EFCO and/or stick form).
  • Experience pouring concrete walls up to 8 meters high.
  • Experience with shoring at 5 meters high.
  • Experience with water stop installation and dewatering.
  • Residential basement formwork experience is an asset.
  • Concrete pouring and flat concrete finishing experience are assets.
  • Knowledge of safe operation of tools and a safe manner to operate equipment.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Hoisting and Rigging experience is an asset.
  • WHMIS and Safety Awareness Training required; Elevated/Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space training are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Build, layout and execute wooden forms and advanced formwork systems as required.
  • Ensure forms are designed on grade to meet specifications.
  • Use levels and measuring tapes in setting forms to grade with minimal supervision.
  • Construct and align form panels for pouring concrete and pour/compact concrete.
  • Observe health and safety regulations and supervise apprentices.
  • Maintain tools safely and respond to directions.
  • Construct, assemble and dismantle scaffolding as needed.
  • Transport materials to the work area.
  • Perform related duties within own scope and certs.

NAC is currently seeking a Carpenter/Formsetter, initially based at our Lakeshore Wastewater Treatment Plant project in Innisfil, ON.

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Civil Superintendent, the Carpenter/Formsetter is responsible for building, restoring and/or installing of structural formwork from wood or metal forms for the construction of concrete structures. This position requires knowledge of the heavy construction industry. Specifically the practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control and safety associated with this industry. You must be proficient at the following tasks: building wood and advanced formwork systems and pouring and placing concrete.

Job Description:
  • Build, layout and execute wooden forms and advanced formwork systems as required, according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades
  • Ensure forms are properly designed and on grade to meet construction specifications for the project
  • Use of levels and measuring tapes in the use of setting forms to grade with minimal supervision
  • Construct chutes, forms and align form panels for pouring concrete
  • Fill form with concrete material, compact with tamper/compactor to required grade
  • Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply
  • Work with and maintain all tools in a safe manner
  • Respect and respond to direction given
  • Construct and/or assemble and dismantle scaffolding as needed
  • Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed
  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience working with various types of formwork in heavy construction
  • Must have experience with advanced formwork systems (Doka, Logo, Aluma, PERI, EFCO and/or stick form systems)
  • Experience pouring concrete walls up to 8 meters high
  • Experience with shoring at 5 meters high
  • Experience with water stop installation and dewatering.
  • Residential basement formwork experience is an asset
  • Concrete pouring experience and flat concrete finishing experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of safe operation of tools
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Hoisting and Rigging experience is an asset
  • Valid WHMIS, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Working at Heights certificates are required.
  • Elevated/Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space training is an asset

$46.27 - $48.51 an hour
