What You'll Do

Epic is seeking an experienced Concept Artist to join our team working on Fortnite, Rocket League, and Rocket Racing. A successful candidate should possess a strong sense of vehicle design, knowledge of 3D software, and a solid foundation in art theories. Must be a team player and demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously. The role involves working closely with the Art Director and Lead Concept Artist to create appealing vehicle designs and environments. The candidate will collaborate with the art team to implement and sustain the creative vision for the game.

In this role, you will

1. Produce artwork encompassing all facets of development, including vehicle designs, environments, props, VFX exploration, pitch concepts, and marketing materials based on direction from Art Director, Lead Concept, and input from the game design team.
2. Based on visual direction from the Art Director, collaborate on the visual style and ensure our designs are of Epic quality bar create and iterate unique and stunning designs within a determined production schedule.
3. A versatile artist capable of executing a variety of styles and able to pivot based on the needs of the project.
4. Collaborate with other discipline teams to produce a cohesive game experience.

What we're looking for

1. An eye for modern automotive aesthetics that speak to our audience of teens and young adults.
2. Ability to work within gameplay design restraints (environment scale, character abilities, prototype function, etc.) and translate those restrictions into visuals that enhance the experience.
3. Experience creating art from mechanical designs to exciting arena sports environments.
4. Experience in 3D software such as Maya, Blender, and/or Zbrush.
5. Excellent foundation skills, including composition, design, and color theory, and advanced knowledge of industrial design.
6. Experienced in working with external outsourcing vendors.
7. An excellent understanding of art pipelines.
8. Strong communication skills and understanding of various art disciplines.
