Job summary

Youtooz is seeking a Concept Artist to translate content creators or popular IPs into 2D concepts aligned with the brand aesthetic. You will research personalities and create initial concepts, iterating with feedback to roughs and lineups for turnarounds for 3D modeling.

The role requires 3-5 years in concept art, proficiency with Photoshop/Illustrator/Procreate, and solid art fundamentals such as color theory and perspective.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in concept art/drawing/sketching
• Strong experience using Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate
• Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize and problem solve
• Strong understanding of art fundamentals: colour theory, perspective and proportions
• Visual development best-practices: roughs, silhouettes, lineups.
• Excellent visual eye and attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Quickly create initial concepts and effectively incorporate feedback into following iterations
• Interpret your 2D concept into turnarounds to prepare for 3D modeling

Youtooz creates designer toys for the heroes and role models of the internet — Youtubers, Instagram influencers, celebrities, athletes, rappers, and more. Concept Artists at Youtooz will create the aesthetic and look for our product. They are responsible for taking a content creator or popular IP and turning them into a 2D concept that fits the brand’s aesthetic guidelines and accurately personifies the creator.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research and capture a content creator's personality, mood, content, community and other defining features into a 2D collectible
• Quickly create initial concepts and effectively incorporate feedback into following iterations
• Interpret your 2D concept into turnarounds to prepare for 3D modeling
• Assist our 3D modelers by making supplemental 2D assets

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-5 years of experience in concept art/drawing/sketching
• Strong experience using Photoshop, Illustrator or Procreate

Bonus Points

• Experience with 3D Programs such as Maya and Z-Brush
• Experience with traditional art such as painting or sculpting
• Degree in Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Animation or a related discipline

The pay range for this role is:

50,000 - 70,000 CAD per year (Toronto, Canada)

50,000 - 70,000 CAD per year (Montreal, Canada)

50,000 - 70,000 CAD per year (Calgary, Canada)
