The Compliance Manager supports Manulife Bank’s regulatory compliance management program, focusing on the design, maintenance, and execution of the second line of defence monitoring and testing program (the “M&T Program”).

This role requires a seasoned professional experienced in audit, monitoring, reviewing banking legislation, creating test plans, and documenting requirements clearly. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering monitoring and testing reports, maintaining testing policies, managing findings, and interacting with various internal teams and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities :

1. Design and plan the M&T Program based on regulatory expectations and risk levels.
2. Conduct monitoring and testing to ensure control effectiveness, develop testing plans, execute tests, review controls, and prepare reports.
3. Communicate control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
4. Manage policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements.
5. Develop and update team training programs.
6. Log testing results and findings in the regulatory compliance management database (RCMD).
7. Act as a compliance contact for the M&T Program.
8. Collaborate on managing compliance issues and action plans.
9. Support compliance reporting and attestations for Board and Committees.
10. Maintain records and documentation for regulatory requests.
11. Participate in additional tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications :

• Expertise in compliance and legal experience is an asset.
• Professional designation in audit or accounting, with at least 5 years of experience.
• Ability to interpret legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills.
• Experience with Archer system is an asset.
• Knowledge of banking legislation, products, and procedures.
• Strong analytical, judgment, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, with adaptability to changing priorities.
• Capable of training others and translating legislative language into practical advice.
• Proficient with LAN, Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, AWD.
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
