Compliance Associate / Officer - Privacy

How does the role impact the organization?

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Privacy, you will be primarily responsible for assisting with various aspects of the Privacy Compliance Program. You will work within the firm’s Privacy Office, supporting evaluation of the firm’s data privacy risks, and supporting the development and implementation of solutions to minimize those risks and ensure compliance with privacy regulatory requirements.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Support the management of inquiry requests, and incident and breach responses, handling, management and reporting;
  • Assist in conducting privacy risk and impact assessments;
  • Support the manager in development and documentation of program metrics and Senior Leadership reporting;
  • Assist in the development of annual privacy training materials and business unit specific training and manage employee compliance with required training;
  • Maintain the firm's internal Privacy Office website;
  • Collaborate with business units to identify solutions to minimize privacy risks and communicates the firm's position on privacy to key stakeholders;
  • Develop business unit-specific privacy guidelines and presentations to raise privacy awareness.
  • Document privacy legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Manage regular review of company privacy policies and procedures and recommend improvements;
  • Develop presentation materials for executive committees and department meetings; and
  • Initiate, develop, maintain and revise processes for the general operations of the Privacy Office and its related activities.

To qualify for this opportunity you possess :

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of

  • MS Office (focusing on Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)

Skill in

  • Oral and written communication at a superior level;
  • Organization at an advanced level;
  • Problem solving,critical thinking and conducting analysis; and
  • Customer service and interpersonal communication.

Ability to

  • Be a strong multi-tasker and work under pressure;
  • Handle and manage sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion;
  • Perform well independently and within a team; and

Educational / Previous Experience Requirements

  • Possess 2-3 years compliance experience, particularly in the Privacy Compliance area;
  • Bachelor’s and / or paralegal degree (are an asset);
  • 2- 3 years of experience / knowledge in privacy compliance (are an asset);
  • Possess legal and / or privacy diplomas / certifications.
  • Possess experience carrying out privacy impact assessments and handling privacy breaches;
  • Possess experience developing policies and procedures; and
  • Possess experience in the development and writing of reports and briefings.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Have successfully completed a CIPP certification.
