Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph is seeking a Personal Support Worker (Temporary Part-Time) to support residents in activities of daily living under RN/LPN supervision. The PSW follows unit duties, policies, and the care plan to promote comfort and safety.

The role emphasizes assisting with hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, skin care, and socialization while maintaining professionalism and collaboration with the health-care team.

Qualifications

• PSW certificate/diploma required by Ontario ministry for postsecondary/institution
• Experience in long term care preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, hair/nail care, mouth care, shaving)
• Assist with nutrition (fluids, meal setup, feeding, report intake)
• Assist with urinary/bowel elimination and continence needs
• Promote comfort through positioning, mobility, and turning per care plan
• Support skin integrity and safe environment; report changes promptly
• Assist with range of motion exercises and rest/socialization
• Maintain therapeutic PSW/resident relationships and collaborate with care team
