Job summary

Cogir Senior Living is seeking a kitchen helper to load and operate dishwashers, maintain a clean cooking area, and support the dietary needs of residents. You will work in a care-focused kitchen, with emphasis on hygiene and safety.

The role requires empathy for the elderly, ability to follow food handling procedures, and attention to portion control. A Vulnerable Sector Check is required or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Must have empathy for the elderly and the handicapped.
• Ability to understand and follow proper food handling and storage procedures.
• Ability to serve food attractively according to specified portion control.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly.
• Able to read and write English.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Load, operate and empty dishwashers and put dishes away.
• Maintain a clean cooking area including surfaces, stoves, ovens, grills, storage and exhaust hood.
• Damp mop floors.
• Clean other kitchen equipment like blenders and refrigerators.
• Perform duties with cleanliness in mind.
• Respect Resident Rights and Responsibilities and promote them.
• Attend in-service training as required to better serve dietary needs.
• Attend staff meetings to stay informed of Residence changes.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Work in a position of trust with residents and vulnerable adults.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s ethics and integrity.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
