Job summary

VHA Home HealthCare is seeking an Extreme Cleaner in Toronto to provide practical household assistance within client service plans. You will de-clutter, clean living spaces, wash surfaces, and help maintain independence for clients in home and community settings.

The role requires at least one year of cleaning experience, ability to follow instructions, and the flexibility to support diverse client groups; English literacy at Grade 8 level is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year's experience in private or institutional cleaning.
• Experience working with vulnerable clients is an asset.
• Good physical and mental health.
• Ability to work independently while following pre-set instructions and work cooperatively with the care-giving team.
• Ability to read and write English (Grade 8 level).
• Must be flexible to be able to support a diverse client group.

Responsibilities

• Performs a combination of home cleaning services including washing floors, sinks, and related surfaces; vacuuming, dusting and wiping down fridge and stove exterior; laundry and ironing; emptying wastebaskets; polishing furniture; washing accessible interior windows; and cleaning and organizing the inside of cupboards, stoves and fridges.
• Performs tasks according to the client's specifications, and using the client's products and equipment, according to a pre-set time allowance as arranged by the agency. The client arranges for a specific set of tasks, however, any task, may be added or replaced at the client's specific request.
• Completes time-keeping protocols ensuring accuracy and timely submission in accordance with VHA policy.
• Participates in team meetings as requested, with a commitment to contribution and service development.
• Participates on project teams as appropriate.
• Shares in handling workload for positive results.
